I had a couple appointments with the orthodontist to make a set of diagnostic records. He needs it to determine my problem and how he is going to treat it.
Went up to the "molds room". After choosing the right size of metal device, the mold mixture was made. The assistant, Sandra, took lower and upper impressions using that device filled with some pink mixture with mint-flavored. Afterwards I rinsed at the sink.
Sandra took some pictures. First, frontal pictures of relax & smiling face, followed by profile pic - I dreaded it. Then, she inserted two lip puller (don't know the right name for it) in my mouth, left & right. I had to hold them while she took pictures of my teeth. Next, she stacked small mirror in my mouth to take inside pics.
Cephalometric (side view of skull) and Panoramic (full view of both jaws & all teeth) radiograph is needed, so I went down to the x-ray room. I put on the heavy lead vest, stood still in the first device. It rotates and slides up and down for a couple of minutes. Then off to the next one. I rested my chin on the chin rest; bit the mouth piece while the device slides from side to side. That’s all for the first appointment.
On the second visit, I brought with me my insurance papers. Turns out I need a team of doctors in order to get approval. Dr Sutedja is contemplating where I’d better do the surgery. We were talking about having the surgery in May. The problem is I need the approval before they can even start putting me on braces. Fingers crossed. I told him that I'm scared and still unsure about the surgery, as it can change how I look. It is up to myself to decide weather I do it or not. Meanwhile I was told to go to physiotherapy to widen my mouth opening & helps relax my muscle.
The waiting began.
