Met up my Oral Surgeon & Orthodontist at my Ortho’s office on Saturday!
It settled then, it would be Le Fort 1 on the upper jaw, 3mm tilted upwards only at the back of it, VSO to reduce 7mm of the lower jaw, 2 wisdom teeth extraction (on my right) and without genioplasty. They tried not to change my face drastically. And yes, I'll be wired shut (!) for at least 4 weeks follow by banded shut.
They said it took them usually about 1.5 hours to do the upper and 2 hours to do the lower. We discussed everything I need to know about anesthetic and post-op: from the recovery room until when I can use my waterpik, what to eat, how big the swelling would be & for how long, when I will be able to dance again and what to do with pain. They said it won't hurt at all... only discomfort (that is how my surgeon described it, literally!). We'll see...
Oh, I asked if I can borrow the video of such surgery, my ortho said he has it at home which is down the street from my place. But my surgeon said I’d better see it AFTER my own surgery... I don't think I'll bail out at this point.
